Exemptions, Abatements, & Address Changes

Address Correction

It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to inform the Assessor’s Office of an address correction. If your tax bill returns to this office due to an incorrect address, interest and penalty charges will not be waived. Under Massachusetts State Law, failure to receive a bill does not affect the validity of the tax, interest or penalties that have accrued. Your address change may be emailed to the Assessors’ Office. Please include the parcel number for each bill requiring an address change.

Exemptions / Abatements

The Board of Assessors must approve all exemptions and abatements before deductions can be applied against the tax. The abatement application period is thirty days from the issuance of the actual tax bill. The tax should be paid while waiting for the abatement/exemption process to avoid further interest and penalties.

For abatement/exemption forms please visit the Board of Assessors page for a link to their forms.
