Treasurer’s Report: OK  Reserve Fund contains….$1218.00 – amount used to pay for signs.  Regular account-$1,000.00 –amount to reimburse Reserve account ?. More thorough report in August.

Business:
1.      Rob wrote and Barbara proofread a letter to be sent to people outside the two historic districts who have homes that are at least one hundred years old. We will stuff and add address labels at the end of this meeting.
2.      Letter received from Greg Farmer of Agricola, cell tower representative of Verizon, stating that a private viewing of a balloon test was done.  They intend to submit it as evidence for a cell tower proposal.  Rob felt that this was inappropriate and wrote to the MHC to let them know. He then heard from Mr. Farmer, who said that a new balloon test will be done and the public will be notified.
3.      Town clerk sent each of us a memo concerning ethics in public duty. We are to sign it and return it to her.
4.      Voted to put notice of our meetings on 2009 Community Calendar at a cost of $12.00.
5.      Rob informed Housatonic Walks of our Walking Tour of Becket publication and so we will not participate as a commission on that occasion.
6.      Rob contact CSX (for possible gift of railroad ties for BECKET sign) and did not hear back from them. Suggested that he contact Berkshire Scenic Railroad or Chester Railroad Museum for source of ties. We will place the old railroad station sign at Ballou Park.
7.      We will use Chester Signsmith for our future old house signs. Barbara made a motion to have the commission pay for a sign for the Old Apothacary Shop and the Guild Hall which was the first town hall built for the town in 1890 at the cost of $60.00 apiece. Aaron and Jennifer 2nd , motion passed unanimously.
8.      Rita will contact the town treasurer to get our account balances after our Reserve Account is reimbursed for the Historic District signs from our annual budgeted amount.
9.      Envelopes stuffed. Postage paid for by town.

Meeting adjourned 7:52
Respectfully submitted,

Rita Furlong
