The meeting was called to order at 7:01pm.
1. Minutes of 1/10/08 meeting – not yet ready. To be reviewed at future meeting
2. Minutes of 1/17/08 meeting approved.
3. Review 2nd draft of FY2009 Warrant.
Some Q&A with Richard about various expense lines, including review of Fire Dept. request for increased expenses to handle mandated equipment such as air tanks and callout gear.
4. Mike received a call from Bob Tensel of CBRSD, who said that Becket’s minimum-contribution to the CBRSD budget, as mandated by State Dept. of Education, rose $50,000 for FY09. This is out of our control, and a reason for concern due to impact on the overall budget.
5. The committee decided to wait until March to determine whether to recommend (and budget) an audit in FY09. This depends on two factors: the results of the current audit (still unavailable) and the overall budget.
6. Richard reported that the current town accountant is not responsive to his requests and input. He will take steps within the next few weeks to address this situation. Accountants with experience in municipal accounting are not easy to find.
