7/22/09: On July 15th, the Board of Selectmen received a petition for a Special Town Meeting, which the Town Clerk certified had the required 200 registered voters' signatures. The topic for which the meeting was requested was to "review the Becket Animal Control Department budget cut decision made at the annual town meeting on May 9, 2009." A request like this requires the Town to call a Special Town Meeting no later than 45 days after the receipt of the request. The Selectmen will address this request at their next regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 7:00 PM.
