Tuesday, October 7th, 2008
Board Members Present : Sue Schneider;Chairperson, Joshua Lombard ; Clerk , Mark Burgwardt, Robert Gorden, Madeleine Swindlehurst.
Board Members Absent: None
Members of the Public Present: William Cichaski
Meeting called to order: 7:05 p.m.
Review and Acceptance of September 2nd, 2008 Meeting Minutes – Mr. Joshua Lombard makes a motion to approve September 2nd meeting minutes as presented . Ms. Madeleine Swindlehurst seconds motion. Unanimous Approval.
Public Hearing: William Cichaski, request for a dimensional special permit, 27 Western Ave, Map 211 Lot 86 (Hearing Continued).
Hearing re-opens at 7:10.
Chairperson, Sue Schneider re-opens hearing at 7:10pm and briefs everyone present that this hearing was continued from last month’s meeting and also reminds of the additional information requested from the Zoning Board of Appeals at that time. Applicant, Mr. William Cichaski approaches board members and explains that he has spoken with his engineer, Peter France, and informed him of the requested information from the board members. Mr. Cichaski explains that his engineer had stated that the board of health should give guidance to the town on this matter. Mr. Cichaski advised that his engineer would not actually put anything in writing, however, did give him his verbal assurance stating everything should be fine.Mr. Cichaski explained that he has in fact been in contact with Mr. William Fuller; Board of Health,
however, Mr. Cichaski explained that after initially speaking with him, he then left town for approx. three weeks, and will now soon be back in touch with him. Mr. Cichaski also explained that he will be writing a letter to the state to get the approval for the tight tank. Mr. Cichaski requests that he may again continue the hearing and questions the board as to how long he may he have.
At this time, Ms. Swindlehurst advises that she has created a sheet that states what happened at the previous meeting, when the hearing was opened, and what was requested at that time. Ms. Swindlehurst asks that copies be made and dispersed to all members for review. Ms. Swindlehurst advises that completely new construction homes do not allow for a tight tank, however, she states that this particular case may be slightly different.
Mr. Cichaski states that he will come in and personally speak with Mr. Fuller and ask him exactly how he should be handling this. Mr. Lombard requests that the applicant gets something written from the board of health, to submit to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Ms. Swindlehurst reminds Mr. Cichaski that he needs to make changes to the original setbacks that he had requested and to correct them to reflect what he was actually going to do.
Mr. Josh Lombard makes a motion to continue this hearing until we again hear from the applicant, advising that he has made corrections and is ready to proceed with the hearing. Mr. Robert Gorden seconds motion; Unanimous Approval.
Public Participation – None
Correspondence- All correspondence is read and reviewed.
Other Business- Secretary passes out “Press Release- Becket ZBA needs members” to all members present. Ms. Swindlehurst wrote the article and requested that it is submitted to the Country Journal as a press release, thus having it ran on the Becket page, thus no charge to the ZBA. Ms. Swindlehurst asks that the board members review the article and discuss any changes/corrections that may need to be made. Board members agree that the article is fine the way it stands. Ms. Swindlehurst requests that the secretary please submit the press release to the Country Journal so that it may be published in next Thursday’s edition of the Country Journal.
Mr. Joshua Lombard makes a motion to adjourn. Mr. Robert Gorden seconds motion. Meeting adjourned at 7:38pm
